My reef tank, a 40g, is in its infant stage, only 4-5months old. I was dealing with green Cyano issue, which seems to fade away slowly. I do weekly (15-20%) water change, added GFO, add 2ml vinegar(actually, I stopped since past week to prevent Cyano bloom), added macro algae(2weeks ago).

In last day or two, I’ve seen lot of very tiny bug(perhaps I need magnifying glass to see them) on tank glass. Could they be copepod or something else? Is this good or a tank emergency?

I had the same thing on my glass around the same time. I assumed they were pods but I never asked for identification. Pics would help in identification.

@Matt Carden , picture attached. Not a clear one, however.

@pathot984, my nitrate are super low, but I do have high phosphate issue. It was at .5, dropped to .25 gradually. So I’m hoping it may drop further. Since water change alone doesn’t make a dent in phosphate removal, I’ve added phosban and macro algae to assist lowering phosphate level. Not sure if I should continue with vinegar dosing at a very lower dose(1ml daily perhaps).

It’s super young 4-5months. Acan, duncan, hammer, chalice, and zoas. No SPS corals yet.

Pics attached of a few corals.

Yeah your tank is pretty young and with stable parameters and aging the cyano will eventually fall out on its own. I personal feel GFO causes problems in newly established tanks, especially with skeletal based SPS corals.

Old thread but figured I'd bump it. I'm going through a copepod bloom in our 180 right now. I thought it was dust or something at first cause of screen tops being added. It seems to be a pretty large bloom. Anything I can do to help it go away? I've heard that a serious bloom could starve the oxygen and harm the fish...
