Fair enough, but I was not trying to get to zero. I was trying to head for around 0.05 and maintain that.......main reason was to avoid an algea infestation and would like to eventually try some biginers SPS. And to reiterate my inital testing showed greater than 0.9 phosphates and now have 0.33 which most would agree is not substainable

Some Dino like the light and some don’t. There are different species and can really only be identified with a microscope.

Yes, having some N and PO4 will allow the organisms we want to out compete the undesirable.

I had no nitrates and high phosphates. Dosed nitrates and still no nitrates. Seemed my tank was carbon limited. I dosed reef biofuel for about two weeks as well as nitrates and now nitrates are barely reading and phosphates have dropped. From what I read the reef biofuel helps remove them with bacteria through the skimmer. Now everything holds stable.

About 4/5 weeks ago I asked for some help as I was newbie (and still am and will be for a long time I think) fighting phosphates @ greater than 1.00PPM and wrote
"TODAY (About 4 weeks ago) PARRAMITERS ARE:
PH =8.0
Amonia =0.0 Maybe 0.015
Nitrite =0.0
Nitrate =0.0
KH =5
Phosphate=greater than 1.00ppm"

Today and for the past week
PH =8.1
Amonia =0.0
Nitrite =0.0
Nitrate =10ppm
KH =10.5
PHOSPHATES: 0.4 and holding!
These were the parameters I was aiming for. Would have liked a PH of 8.4 but every thing seems happy so will keep montoring and try to intrvine as little as possible, letting the tank do its thing.

Thanks for all the help and advice guys:)
