My leathers seem unhappy, and I’m thinking my low nutrient levels may be the culprit. My parameters are:
pH 7.8
Ca 400
Alk 7
Mg 1280
Nitrate undetectable on Red Sea kit
PO4 0.02 via Hannah checker

Could the low nitrate and phosphate be a cause? I feed once daily, but fairly heavily. I’m thinking about putting a auto feeder on the tank and adding a couple of feedings of pellets throughout the day. What do you guys think?

Yes that's possible but it just don't happen overnight.
If you test daily your No3 and ALK like me you can see a lot happening due to the nutrients and big three.
Put some flake food in your filter sock and see if No3 is coming up in the next 5 days.

IF YOU HAD TO OPERATE EVERYTHING ELSE MANUALLY, WHICH AUTOMATED SYSTEM WOULD YOU KEEP?
