I will be building a new stand for my 93 gallon marineland cube, 30x30x24. I have seen the guide on here and I would love to build that, but how can I extend it to get the stand bigger than the tank safely. I will probably build it 33x33. I need to fit a 20 long underneath it and its length is 30 as well, therefore it wont fit because of the 2x4s. Any suggestions or words of wisdom?

Ok so it's a rough picture but what do you all think of this.

The tank is 30x30. The sump is 30 long. I could make the stand 31x31 but then the tank wouldn't be 100% over the 2x4 frame. Which may or may not be ok, that's why I'm asking you all haha. Or, I could do the second picture and use the same layout but make it a true 30x30 and then tack on a 2x4 on each side of each corner vertical, then wrap it in plywood. Would that mess up the weight distribution since there would be a hollow gap (the sections with the line slashes through them) even though it's still sitting on the main frame. There would be a gap all around the top piece of plywood where the tank will actually sit as well. I hope that makes sense.

Don't pay attention to the 34" in second pic. It would be a tad smaller after 2x4s and plywood

Yeah my stand on my tank is way bigger than the actual tank itself. I use a thick rubber mat under my tank and some even use granite under theirs to distribute the weight of the tank to a surface and relieve those pressure points

Rubber matt is a great way for it to self level

I built a 36inch stand for a friend of mine's 93 cube. I have to saw it looks really good on a taller stand. You could always get a cube sump by a acrylic maker.
