Cup coral hitchhiker

Thought I would share a pic of this cup coral hitchhiker that came with my live rock. I have a few of these guys scattered about. They only fully extended when it gets dark. If my parameters are spot on the little dots have more of a green glow to them. These seem pretty hardy, they are going on 18 months now.

This particular one I thought the Sunny D zoas would overtake, but these are are pretty combative themselves. I saw this one eat a zoa.

They do look similar but these guys have a skeleton. During the day the tentacles mostly retract back inside it. The skeleton looks like this pic I found on the net.

Yeah I didn’t even know I had these at first but they have done nicely since my parameters have been good. I have 4 that I know of and I enjoy watching them come out at night,

I’ll try to snap a daytime pic, you can see the skeleton pretty well then.

I would think these are very slow growers. They don’t seem to grow new heads.
