I currently have a Current USA Orbit Marine LED Light (18-24 in) on my 24 g nano. Looking to do mushrooms and zoas. I am running the light for 8 hours of sunlight a day w/a hour of dawn/dusk before. I do not want to upgrade this light because I plan on upgrading the tank within the year. The tank has been up and running for several months now and houses 2 clowns and a peppermint shrimp along with crab/snails. I've read several different things on what the settings of the lights need to be at to include duration and red/blue coloration with the LEDs. I'm looking on for advice of what settings have worked best for others out there to grow their corals. Thanks in advance!

I don't have that light. I run a total of 12 hours of light with 5 hours peak lighting with a ramp up and down for the rest of the time.

Let me know how it works out! Im getting a peninsula 20g and was thinking of using the current USA (need some low profile lights and these looked doable)

I have two of these on a 60g and they are very underpowered you'll be lucky to grow softies and the controls are a little finicky

Same - I have the larger version. It was the first light that I bought because I was a noob. I bought the hype about the loop system and I loved the low profile look of it.
I think it would be ok for softies on a shallow tank or and it is an awesome light for FOWLR.

I have a 20 gallon nano that I was running 2 of the FluvalSmart led lights and just switched to the new xr 15 G5 pro and wow what a difference in growth and color of my zoas and chalices. I turned my FluvalSmart all the way up to 100% and still had trouble with growth and color. See if you can find a used G4 and upgrade the light

Maybe you could get a light that would work on your upgrade down the road? Even something cheap like a black box LED. Theres alot of good ones.

I have the current USA IC loop 2 sets on a 34gallon cube. Softies including zoas, leathers, sea fan and pumping xenias, a feather duster, a duncan and a hammer. All are doing really good, great growth all around. That being said, it's only a 20x20x20 tank. don't know how good it would be for anything bigger or other corals.
My setting are:
Sunrise Colors: RED=74%, GREEN=9%, BLUE=76%, WHITE=0%
Time on:12noon
Daylight: RED=75%, GREEN=29%, BLUE=100%, WHITE=65%
On Time: Begins 90 minutes after sunrise
Sunset: RED=74%, GREEN=9%, BLUE=75%, WHITE=0%
Off Time: 7:30pm
Moonlight: RED=0%, GREEN=0%, BLUE=5%, WHITE=0%
Duration: 6 hours
You can tweak it as you like, turn them on and off at other times. I have it like this so I can enjoy it after I get home from work and before going to bed while still giving the tank somewhat of the lighting it requires. It's been working for me.

You're welcome. I like the lights, I just ordered the new version for my RS Max S400 which I'm in the process of starting. It's a used tank I bought with the T5s. It has 10 T5s and LED lights for the moonlight setting. I don't like that I can't ramp up or down the lighting like the sunrise sunset settings on the current and the moonlight setting is very very very dim. So I'm going to use either 6 or 8 T5s together with the new current lights. I think I'll have the best of both this way.

It's going to depend a lot on which of the 4 models you have. See chart and find which model you have.

Okay, now I'm confused. On my 34g I know I have 2 IC LEDs. I bought the newest Orbit Marine LED so looks like if I'm looking at this chart right only gives me 400 par max at the surface. Time to give them a call, thanks Aardvark1134. I thought buying the latest light they have was the best thing for me but looking at this I'm looking on there website can't find any information on what PAR that new light is butting out. I'll be calling them today since I still haven't received the light. Thanks again.

Yeah, I think I bought the wrong one. I got the orbit marine should have got the Orbit Marine IC. Can't find the Marnie pro single only in a dual package.

I'm going to call them later today so I can return it when I get it and order the other one. I know I got the wrong one because of the price. Looks like they don't carry the marine pro anymore and I'm leaning towards getting the IC pro instead of the IC LED. I'm thinking if I do that I might be able to use less T5s since I'm looking to combine these with the T5s I currently have.

Mine are set to sunrise at 8 a.m. with 50, 50, 75, 50(R, G, B, W), and daylight set with (75, 75, 100, 75) and goes into moonlight at 10 p.m. til 4a.m. with 4 hours of complete darkness. Moonlight set at 0, 0, 5, 0.

But I should mention that I have the next step down from the Marine Pro's. The PAR is average for most lights depending on depth of the tank. The Marine Pro's are the better of the sets of USA CURRENT LOOP LIGHTS. And they will work just fine for most tanks up to 75 gallons
