Good Evening.

A question for someone who has done some plumbing. I am building a 2 piece sump and will need to connect them via PVC and bulkhead.

What size of pipe should I use?
How much flow should I shoot for?

Thanks for the help.

It all depends on the flow through the sump.

What size tank, turnover you are after.

Lot's of variables.

Now, you could play it really safe and use 2" bulkheads and pipe and that would be good for a few thousand GPH.

It is a 55 gallon tank. I am not sure how much flow I should be shooting for.

I always go about 4x but a lot of people shoot for 10x+

I would say a safe bet would be 2 1" bulkheads. That way if one clogs...

No worries. Now, what'll really bake your noodle is making sure you can get them perfectly level to each other when you drill.

Been there, done that, hated it.
