I dedicated a 95g (125g w/sump) reef tank to keep a bonded pair of cuttlefish which I purchased from LiveAquaria, DRFOSTERSANDSMITH.

I wanted to get in touch with others who are currently keeping this fascinating creature, and maybe share research or more!

I almost bought some but I just couldnt get over the fact that they only live for 1.5-2 years... I mean a friggin turbo snail can live like 10 years. I hope that you got some in the infant stage and not adults

They arrive on Wednesday next week, and I will definitely take tons of pics for you guys!

Rock_lobster, I understand they have minimal longevity compared to other inverts unfortunately ;( just hoping this bonded pair actually adjust well enough to spawn before the 2yr mark... they are about 2" right now as the ad stated. Heres a pic of the item page

I can't wait to see more updates on this! You are planning on keeping this as just that species specific tank, I am guessing?

Thanks a lot Squishie I am very excited myself :)

Lux, yes I do not plan to add anything that preys or competes with the cuttlefish. Maybe just docile corals, nano fish, and no inverts with large claws

Subscribed. I love cuttlefish but I stray away from them because of their short lifespan but 2 years is longer than I thought. I had assumed being a cephalopod they would only live 1 year like octopus. Every time I go to Epcot in Orlando I have to go see the cuttlefish tank

Hey everyone!

Just got them in yesterday, and did not turn on MHs till this morning.

Acclimated for about an hour and a half yesterday. As I would drip tank water into the container they would come up right underneath the tube for a cool shower, and shake it off nonchalantly. This was adorable to watch.

I put the first cuttle in my tank, and he launches a 'tentacle of death' at my cleaner shrimp (mega kill!!). I have yet to see the other cuttle, but will post pics when I catch them at the right moment. Excuse the dirty tank, and will be clean for next round of pics.

I am trying to get them to eat frozen, if anyone has advice plz share! I have a culture of brine and ghost which I am not too fond of up-keeping.

So cool. I was over at the California Academy of Sciences this weekend looking at their dedicated cuttle fish tank. The coolest things I've seen in a long time.
