Hi all,

fairly new to the hobby. Im in about 9 months and the issues never stop. Is this what im deaing with cyano? It looks slimey green, and the red/ purple parts have a thin film around rocks and has bubbles coming out.

if it is, how effective is the 3% peroxide method work? Will it cause harmor stress on fish? Any input would he great.

The green looks like green hair algae. The brown in your refugium looks like Dinos. Can’t really tell from the pics of your rocks but if it’s purple/reddish and slimy, it’s more than likely cyano. Remember to be patient. The first year is tough. Sometimes these things resolve themselves with patience. But in the meantime make sure you have enough flow in the tank. Can you give more info? What are your parameters? What’s your fish load? What’s your clean up crew? How big is the tank? At first glance it doesn’t look like your refugium has enough flow. Chemiclean and other chemical methods will work but might just mask the underlying problem. Make sure to address them if you resort to chemical methods. Haven’t used it myself but I hear peroxide works. Won’t harm anything in your tank.
