Cycle gone wrong

so i started a cycle about 5 weeks ago and assumed it was all good waited the tike i needed to to vefore i could add my first fish and as the dummy i am i never checked water params this weeks so i bought a fish then today i decided to test just in case and then the ammonia is at 8 ppm at least and now idk qhat to do i got a 55 gallon full stock so if i add it to that it will cause an issue to that tank and i have a 18 gal which is way too small... i should know to check my params while vycling but here i am.... what do i do i need to somehow jump the cycle over completely or at least the ammonia...

If you have two other tanks did you use filter media, substrate, rock anything like that to help with your cycle from them?

Anyway, if your ammonia is high you are right in being concerned about that fish. Personally I would take it back to the LFS or acclimate it to the 55, better yet f you have a QT it can stay in there until you get your cycle properly completed.

sorry as i should mention to precebt confusion my first fish translates to my fist fish in that tank

i did all of those and even added artifical to be sure and btw i cant go to the lfs as it closed i mean i can try with the 55 but any alternatives would be preferred

UPDATE: SORRY THIS WAS A FALSE ALARM... lol oof. THE WATER I USED WAS CONTAMINATED WITH CORAL FOOD CAUSE THE EYE DROPPER I USED WAS FULL OF CORAL FOOD STUCK TO IT... NVM ITS ALL GOOD THE WATER PARAMS (other than salt) ALL ARE PERFECT...

salt is a 0.022 but im going to raise it its not that lethal like tons of ammonia...



ammonia is 0
nitrites at 0
nitrates are near untraceable
ph is 8.2
i will test hardness, calcium and phosphates in another update thread... no corals currently and i have no reason to check those level i dont think yet and phosphates are unlikely as there is little or no algea
