Question for everyone. Is it okay to add live sand from TBA and not add rock for about a month later? I may not be able to do both at the same time but wasn’t sure of this will cause any issues? Sorry this is a new tank so sand - water at the same time then about a month later - rock.

Sure.

The tank will begin cycling with or without rock. Think of it like a frag tank, with a sand medium and only frag racks.

You can add sand first, but consider a bit of nano base rock to further diversify micrograms. It’s the perfect combo.

-base is fine in a dark sump/unlit tank
-excellent for cycling and seeding
-check out the Treasure Chest category for 8lbs

So it sounds like this is doable? Add the live sand and a little bit of live rock till I add more rock about a month later.

Yup, that’s totally viable. I added LS and some of their small rock to my system. Not long after, there was brown and green algae all over. A few weeks later, I picked up more sand, more rocks, and a clean up crew from them. Add those with no issues.

You don’t need to add any rock right away, but it won’t hurt either and as TBS said, simply adds more diversity to start. If you are not ready for lights, it really doesn’t matter and just add the sand.
