Looks great!!! So clean and fresh... I am jealous, I was working in my outdoor cabinets that I built 10+ years ago to hold all my filtration. They are tired and need to be replaced. Your's looks so nice and clean and unwarped. I hate ripping mine out when everything works just to make it pretty again. Keep posting your project, your helping to motivate me for mine :)

Dave B

haha, check back with me in a year. ;)

Awesome build!
Thanks! :)

Quick shot from Urban Aquatics showing the overflow installed.
You can just barely see the external section on the back right.
This is the part that will be inset into the wall a few inches and accessible from the fish room. :)

You're incredibly handy. Impressive work man.
Sometimes. LOL.
Thank god for caulk.

Any reason why you didn't go the full length on the overflow? Awesome build by the way.
I wanted the option of being able to have returns on the ends.
I'm still not sure how i'm going to run the return plumbing.
May run it around to the front and point it back towards the center of the overflow.

Wow, I cant believe youre upgrading already, but it makes sense why... I'd do the same.

I've been following both your builds on reefcetral and glad to see you here. So far everything looks exceptional, looking foward to this new upgrade/fishroom build.

Keep up the good work, its very inspiring

Just an FYI, I have used TBS rock before and the last two times I did it was covered in mantis shrimp and cirolanid isopods...not sure if you are adding any rock or not but I would inspect the sand

I won't start a tank without TBS.
All my current rock is from them and it's getting transferred over but if I didn't have it, I'd get more in a heartbeat.
I always end up with about 4 mantis shrimp and some gorilla crabs but neither is a big deal. Everyone goes way overboard on those.
I get them out eventually but don't stress over it.
The positives of starting a tank with The Package from TBS farrrrrrrrrrrrrrr outweighs the negatives.

If you read my original build thread i linked to in the OP, you will see I flew to Tampa and got to go out on the boat with Richard to harvest my rock!

OK, the overflow was installed late last night.
And now the tank is filling up and my TBS sand is in place.
Going to fill it up almost to the overflow and leave it there so the couple dabs of silicone we used to hold the left side of the overflow will have time to fully cure.
I won't have my sump for a couple weeks at least so it won't do me any good to fill it up more than that anyway.
I have a heater running and my brand new maxspect gyre pump for circulation.

There are three 2" schedule 80 bulkheads holding the overflow in place on the right side.
And behind the tank is the outer box where the water will flow to and will contain my beananimal plumbing.
I need to now trim out around that outer box so i cover the edges of the sheetrock, the void in the wall, and make sure there is no open space around it to let anything pass between the fish room and the dining room.
And all the trim around the front of the tank has to be replaced as well..
Lots and lots of work to do!!! :)

Dude, it's a wreck. I hate this part. I want it to look all clean and perfect from the start. haha
But when you are dealing with what is essentially a built-in, and building out a fish room at the same time... it's tons of work! :faint:

Hey.... I know.
Been there did that, I'm glad my fish room is up and running for almost a year.
Now just find some time to get rid of the Fresh water Shrimp farm and get the other frag tank going.

Got the void in the wall boxed out and now working on getting it perfectly flush with the sheetrock. :)
