As a guy with a peninsula (see my Avatar or build thread in my sig) I am a huge fan of being able to see the tank from as many angles as possible. My old tank was like 2.5 sides viewable, and I strongly disliked it.

if i were you i would put it as a peninsula right there by that wall across from the island. I have the same tank and i made it a peninsula you get views from all three sides much better.

I agree that the tank needs more viewing angles. The dimensions of the tank almost beg for a walk-around, so looks like a better spot for it. I'm surprised how little of the tank is supported by the stand. What do you plan on doing for the sump area? I'm assuming you will build a stand for the inside.

Beautiful home! I do like the second option for placement. No use in limiting yourself to two views of a tank like that.

I noticed that you didn't go with Reef Savvy because of the 6 month wait. I can tell you that the wait is no longer six months. I am on month 10 and several others here have had similar waits recently. I don't regret going that route though. Mine will also be a 125, but with more common dimensions -48 x 24 x 25. I like the dimensions of your tank. Nice to have that extra depth, if you have room for it.

I will be following along and will be looking forward to watching this one turn into an awesome reef. Looks like you have done this before. :)

Nicola at Elos built me a two-piece false floor because I expressed concern about lack of a bottom panel and my floors.
Don't know if I'll use it though because it's just two flat boards with large rubber feet.
But regardless, there will be a custom made acrylic drip tray inside. So the sump will not be sitting on the floor and the floor will be protected from any spills.

LOL! The closest I've come to that is starting a blog (in my sig) but it needs some serious updating. I haven't posted since before I tore down the old tank. :)

Blue deck is gnarly! Love it. Really like the lay out of the new house too. Great backyard as well. Too bad you had to leave the old fish room. A lot of work done there. Ohh well, cheers to a new chapter in your life. Best of luck with the new build! Following along for the ride.

Thanks! And yeah, I gotta figure that out.
Had a hard enough time last night trying to figure out how the stand goes together! :D
The instructions were a vague guide at best.

Thanks! :)

Yeah, shipping isn't cheap but really no tank is cheap to ship. So unless you find a local shop, it's going to be a bit pricey. My last tank was from Planet outside of Dallas so it didn't cost much to get it to Houston.
FWIW, I was talking to someone last night who was looking at a custom tank with almost identical dims, made by Coast to Coast Aquariums and with shipping and starphire glass the cost was just about identical to my costs with shipping, and that was just the tank. My cost included the stand as well. :)

Hi Denis - good to see you back up and running again. I'm interested to see how you compare the Elos with your previous custom tanks. I built a custom cube tank with coast to coast inspired by your cube and am not not sure I would go that route again. I'm moving myself in about a year and will have t do a tear down and rebuild myself.

Here is a picture of my current tank which was directly inspired by your tank.

I no longer have the radions. I switched and went with Kessils. The radions are great lights but I'm much happier with the Kessils for a number of reasons. In addition, I rebuilt the screen top so it that it works much better and does not hang over the sides like this picture.
