Hopefully as the salinity gets more inline, your SPS issues will resolve!

Thanks!
Last time around the cheato took over everything.
This time the dragon's breath is what grows and the cheato stays the same size.
I'm wondering if there is something different about the spectrum of this ufo led vs the mars hydro I was running with triton.
I'm also seeing similar results, but with chaeto and gracilaria. I'm running gracilaria and chaeto in a skimz macroalgae reactor. Contrary to common sense, the chaeto is stagnant whereas the gracilaria is thriving. Maybe it is better to start with multiple macroalgaes in a refugium; it can be hard to predict which particular species will do the best in our individual tanks!

Happy you found the problem.
It took some longer then expected but here are my PAR measurements with and without diffusers.

Without the diffusers..
Right above water level PAR is 620
Just under the water line PAR is 450-500
At 8 inches PAR is 320
At 14 inches PAR is 260
At 16 inches PAR is 240
And at the bottom at 20 inches PAR is 200

With diffusers...
Right above water level PAR is 530
Just under the water line PAR is 380-450
At 8 inches PAR is 280
At 14 inches PAR is 240
At 16 inches PAR is 200
And at the bottom at 20 inches PAR is 160

Hi, are these measurements at 100% intensity?

I have not checked in on your build in a while but very nice..

I had a basket star come in on a gorgonia once. He lasted about 6 months but that was a long long time ago.
They are cool. should be able to feed him at night. Probably not to bad to keep nowadays.

good luck tank is looking good.
Thanks, he's still going strong! In that same exact spot, too.
Been just about a year now.... end of this month. :)
I tried to get a pic yesterday but it didn't come out well. Will try again. I think he's grown a little since that last pic.

Love your pics.

Is your pH stable? I haven't followed your low-pH thread , but if the high salinity stressed out the corals to slow down their photosynthesis that made some sense to me. Randy would know for sure. However, I would have expected a much more drastic change in Alk than pH. Basically, the Alk should have climbed as calcification rates dropped + you continued dosing the same amount. But maybe you calc reactor is programmed in such a way that it actually started dosing far far less automagically and you didn't notice?

Hopefully everything recovers rapidly.

Thanks! :)

ph has been stable, and quite a bit higher than in that ph thread. It's been topping out around 8.04 and dropping to around 7.75.
Alk is hard to gauge because I was tweaking the CaRx as a way to tweak the pH. And I'm not quite sure how long my salt level was that high.
Since I've been in salinity recovery mode, my alk has started to drop, causing me to have to increase C02.
Both my Calc and Mag were high when the Salinity was high, so I'm sure Alk was higher too (less c02 needed).

BTW, I think I'm starting to see some recovery in my coral and no more instances of stn/rtn. :)

I've had a lot of questions about the Elos Quiet Drain.
So here's a video that attempts to show just how quiet this overflow is.
What's impressive is how an overflow this small can flow this much water and remain silent.
Video is recorded in 1080p via my Nikon D750.

YES the Quiet drain Overflow make me crazy ... Just the Perfect thing We push up on the market ...how we're gonna be able to develop again an even more incredible and small overflow ? stay tuned ;););) May 2018 ...

Yep! Everything looks great. Just a few secondary colors in some of my sps that I'm waiting to come back. Like the pink in my Paletta Pink Tip.

Great pic, love that shroom. :)
Thanks :)

New pics!
Testing out the Fuji 80mm 1:1 Macro we rented this week. Using it on a little Fuji X-E3.
All shot hand held, raw, and processed through Capture One Pro 11.
