I just picked up a MP40 from a fellow reefer second hand. I was inspecting it once it arrived and noticed that on the wet side the ceramic washer that is usually affixed to the bottom of the propeller shaft is loose and come off.

I've had a few MP40s previously and I've not seen this. My question is will it affect the MP40 performance? And should I use a dab of super glue to hold it back down?

Try it. They can be finicky. I have usually regretted buying them second hand. Be sure to use Molykote 111 to lubricate the disc before using.
Good luck

Reached out to Ecotech support and they say it needs replaced. ☹️

Hopefully the seller will be cool and refund for the cost of a new wet frame assembly. At least it's not the price of a whole new wet side.

Oh that's interesting to hear!

I wonder then if that's just Ecotech covering their buts and saying it should be replaced. And if they can get another sale off you all the better. 🤔

I think I will give it a go and see what the performance is like. I'll just use some extra cord cable attachments in case it decides to disconnect.

This is common in buying pre owned merchandise. Replacing wetsides is not unusual. I prefer to keep one on hand in case of failure. But this hobby is so expensive.

Indeed, I bought my previous MP40s new but I'm working on a new build and wanted to add a third. Every day I'm finding new things I need to buy for the build and it's bleeding me dry. 😅

Just got done giving it a citric acid bath, added some molykote to the washer and prop shaft. Fingers crossed!
