Hey guys,

I'm planning on taking a stab at breeding a damsel and was split between Yellow Tailed Damsel or Azure Damsel.
Any species recommendations between the two?
I guess two questions I've been thinking of are:
1) The breedability or ease of spawning of the species? Is there one easier than the other?
2) Is there one species easier to keep in a group to better ensure pairing? It seems as though the Azure is a bit better behaved as far as damsels go.

Those are really tough to raise.

I’ve been able to raise the golden damsel, Amblyglyphidodon aureus, but they get large and kill Acropora coral to make their nests.

Why not try clownfish?

Both Yellowtail Damselfish and Azure Damselfish are quite hardy easy to breed in captivity, and very suitable as a beginner project for yourself. Yellowtails are slightly more prolific there is a vast amount of documentation on how their frequent reproduction can be attained, but they can also turn a bit nippy in a school, so forming a peaceful pair may become a bit difficult.

Since you have expressed exactly the opposite opinion to a recognized fish expert, can you post the sources you mention that claim both of these species are easy to breed in captivity by beginners?
