Update for January 1, 2019. Here's to new beginnings!! :D That's essentially what this tank needs at this point...a new beginning.

Here's my FTS to start the year.

There are several plans I have for this year, but probably the most significant is just to spend some time on it each day. I need to get basic maintenance back beyond a neglect status.:oops:

A couple of positives are that 1) the fish are all fat and happy and 2) there are a few zoas that are still kicking (and 1 acan). It's not a ton to work with, but hey it's better than nothing. ;)

Im sure itll be looking great in No time Daniel.
Thanks, Maroun! I just placed an order for a clean up crew bc most of mine died in the crash and was never replaced (only thing in there right now is bristle worms). I also have a new MP10wQD I'm going to drop in for added flow. I have a few other things in mind to do as well, but I figure these will be some good things to get started.

Got more done on the stand today.

I told you guys that I'm not the master carpenter on this job, here's Jason working his magic. :) (He may be joining the ranks of the reef community soon...he wants an aquarium...thinks he wants freshwater...but I'm wearing him down. :D )

A pic from behind...the back will be detachable, but normally left in place. (Shown without the back on below)

And here's the semi-finished product. I still need to stain and seal the outside and also paint the inside.

Did my best to leave it with the crate look. There's a latch on the outside and a keyed lock on the front (I have preschoolers) and the hinges, but otherwise it's retained the crate exterior. The inside has a shelf built into it (separated by 3 joists into 3 compartments). Overall, I'm pretty proud of the results so far. :) :D
That Create stand is awesome bro.. Nice work !

Did a much needed water change on Saturday, and turned off all flow after dark to release a couple of new inhabitants. Then...I saw this...looks like too much of a good thing to me. I've got an infestation...

whoa that's remarkable!

I was in the same spot you're in last September, albeit with less bristle's. My reef is born anew and I couldn't be more excited. My reef looked like a nuclear wasteland and now its growing and colorful. It's an amazing hobby... when it's good there's nothing better.

I look forward to watching your reef reboot Daniel!

That is so amazing!

Might be a few more than I would want. Some shrimp chunks in an old length of pantyhose left in the tank overnight will trap a ton of those. Just remove the pantyhose and throw it, along with all the worms stuck to it, away. You can get that population down quick.

Or add a predator. It would be happy!

Not to highjack, but just had to say that is a freakin' brilliant little trick. Thanks for sharing it!

I didn't come up with it, but when I heard about it I thought it was a great idea.

Are there any negatives to having too many of those worms? What would eat them anyway?

My only real concern would be a mass die off.

Plenty of predators. Some wrasses, arrow crabs, and coral banded shrimp are some of the main ones. Quite a few fish will eat the baby ones.
