Dark period ramp up

Any thoughts on after the cycle and running the tank dark, instead of now turning the lights on but have a very low intensity while slowly ramping up to normal hours and intensity over weeks if not months during the ugly stages?

Best thing to do IMO. It decreases your chances of uglies.
