The reason I'm drawn to this hobby is because it puts me in touch with some of the earliest, most primitive lifeforms on Earth. At 58 years old, I am still fascinated with the idea of the rise of life on this planet. The absolute eons of time that have passed, day after day after day, for hundreds of millions of years before intelligent life arose... it's mind boggling.

When I decided to get back into the hobby a few months back, I went looking for a documentary about it and finally stumbled upon Attenborough's "First Life" (two parts) on YouTube.

And today, this honor was bestowed upon him.
