Hallo everyone!

After retiring my Spec III to become a FW tank, I got myself a Fluval Spec V instead!

ta da! In my messy messy room

Anyhue, it's been sitting there for some time now, dry and unwatered, but I finally managed to finish the rockscape for it yesterday!

ta da! Still in my messy room.

Next steps are to rinse some sand off and add it before getting the tank wet

In other news, when did mushroom corals get so expensive?? And hard to find? I leave the hobby for a few years and come back and everything costs an arm and a leg!

It seems every midrange coral went down and anything above 100 is all of a sudden triple. So important to know the right people. Beautiful tank following along, really considered getting one before I got my 20g

Hey this is a pretty fresh thread. Keep me updated! I am building a Spec V For a desk tank at my work. Going to be adding my little meany clownfish my women bought. Then I am planning on adding 3-5 RBTA. Deciding how I want to do the rock scape and wondering if I am going to have to get a little powerhead as the return pump is very small.

Also pulling media and rock from my 180g to just start the tank and I have upgraded the light already to a 18" Fluval Reef light I had lying around.

Also bought carb sea Bahamas oolite sand and wondering if its gunna be too fine and be a mistake to add. It was onsale for cheap at petco is why I bought that over fiji pink.

Love the aquascape! What kind of corals are you wanting to keep in there?

@GHOSTLY and I don't know anyone! ;_; lol

Ughhh, they used to be easy cheap coral and now my eyes water looking at them.

Thank you! I think it simultaneously looks larger and smaller than it is, which is strange. Long and skinny tank.

I'm sorry it took me so long to get back to you, thank you for taking the time to leave a comment :)

@ajremington68 lol, it is for me! I have many project that I give time to when I can, which isn't as often as I'd like, but I am plugging away, and it really is slowly coming together. Happy to have your interest!

I think that'd be really pretty. I'm not sure about the pump/powerhead situation myself, but I'd suppose it'd be mroe important for RBTAs?

Ugh, I wish I had precycled media, but I'm starting all my tanks from scratch so lol, it's all gonna be new.

I've heard oolite is fine, but I've never used it so couldn't say. I'm in a similar situation right now with a FW tank, I think the sand I've put in is too sharp and the grains too large, so I'm going to have to remove it and replace it with my usual softer black sand, but it's gonna be a mess. I'd just put it on top, but I think the lighter sand would all just sink to the bottom.

Thank you for commenting, I'd love to see your tank when it's scaped up too!

@Gumbies R Us Thank you! It gave me a hard time, but I wrassled it into submission finally, lol.

So, I wanted to go real heavy with just mushrooms (I love them) but just found they've shot up in price since I was last in coral-buying mode. Still gonna do it, but it'll just take longer as I'll have to save up for longer :( boo

I'm trying to decide if I want a mix of all the colours, or if I want to do a rainbow-esque thing where I go from left to right, red/oranges, yellows/greens, blues/purples/pinks, but IDK if that's be too artificial? I'm not sure

Also considering other softies, like a nice toadstool piece, or maybe some (dreaded) xenia, or pinkish leathers to offset the brighter colours of the shrooms? Not sure.

Stocking is gonna be a small group of probably trimma gobies, and a prawn goby in the bottom.

Thank you for your comment and your interest, I appreciate it :)
