Why does my cheato keep dying? I have a nice fuge set up , slow flow, 12to 16 hour light cycle. What gives. I’m frustrated.

I have the same problem. Salinity at .026, Temp at 77, Amonia 0, Phosphates barely reading, Nitrates barely reading. 2nd try and just melts away. 9 hours of lights. Using current IC pro heavy on reds, greens and whites

I never got my chaeto to grow. Used 4100k lamp, 24/7. Had 30 Nitrate reading. Unless your iron is 0, you could dose

Flow isn’t a issue triton systems are set up to do 10x turnover of you system through a fudge
No phos or nitrates could be your issue it is an algae so you need some nitrates abs phos to grow how close is the light to the water

If it tumbles in the flow it seems to grow better, at least in my AIO. Some systems work better that way, imho. I have to keep it trimmed back seriously or it just fades.

I had the same dying issue. I ended up dosing No3/Po4 & it took off. I use a Nova Evergrow ref light. Low flow passing thru, a power head provides good flow in the fuge.

I’m running a current ic pro light . The cheato i use is from a friends system that is 10 years old and grows so well that he gives it away. I have 0 ammonia and undetected phos. Nitrates are the reason i added the fuge. They were once off the charts high and now at .050.

Also my system has been running for 8 years in its current 125 still with a 30 sump and 30 fuge. It was once a 55 that i upgraded.
