Dead Toadstool

Hi,

New to the hobby but I have a gsp and zoa currently in my tank. I had a toadstool which I just realised today is dead. I’m presuming the toxins and ammonia spike from it being dead are the reason my gsp and zoa have been closed up?

My phos is about 0.5 (although i just did a 20% water change)
And my nitrate is now 10-15

Confused as to why the toad died as it looked like it was shedding but I was concerned with the ammonia spike and lifted it to notice it had rotted away on the stem.

My question is; will my gsp and zoa survive? I’m going to do another water change tomorrow to get the ammonia down and I have carbon in the filter so will clean that out tomorrow too.

What is your tank size and what is your light? Do you have any powerheads in the tank? Can you post a full tank pic? Thanks.

60L with hygger light and hygger wavemaker.

Is that the 30 watt light? How long did it take the toadstool to turn white? Where was it placed in your tank?

If you are worried about toxins you can add a bag of activated carbon into your filter, it will absorb toxins.

I’m not entirely sure. I only noticed the stem was weird today. It was up high top left corner of the tank.

It’s a 24W light.

I'm sorry friend but in my opinion your light is too low, I have a 55 watt light on my 15 gallon to give you some perspective, your tank looks like a 20? I don't like to give bad news about lights I know its expensive but just being honest. Good luck to you.

It was only cheap. Guess I need an upgrade then. Any recommendations?

IMO any 50 watt light will be sufficient for anything 15-25 gallons. I use an AI Prime on my 15 gallon
