I'm about to give up on using my bowfront because it is very difficult to find a lid. Glass lids are not the way to go from my understanding, and custom polycarbonate lids tend to be outrageously expensive. I cannot find a prefab mesh lid for a rimmed 36 bowfront. I don't want to go an ugly DIY route with a sheet of egg crate, any suggestions?

I'm not trying to be a jerk at all, but I don't like bowfronts, they distort everything you see.

Respectfully, you may spend more on a lid than it would cost you to replace you tank.

I mean, just something to think about.

As always, I wish you the best of luck :-)

There is an "aftermarket" glass replacement that is on pre-order only, and with shipping is around $120.
Who is the manufacturer? You could get a custom acrylic one made as another option or since those are pricey as someone else suggested not a bad idea to get another tank you can get a lid for. There are always people on here and on Facebook selling tanks for great prices especially smaller ones. That or the standard Petco ones are reasonably priced.

Ive only used glass lids which reduce both condensation and jumping. Screen is the other option which allows direct lighting but make it simple and cost effective. . . . Get a 2X2' piece of egg crate (often sold for florescent lighting), trace a template from the top of tank with cardboard and cut the egg create from the template and you have a cover

How do you like the glass lids with cleaning and feeding and anything else? My tank is rimmed so I only found a glass lids, but that would limit autofeeders etc and I heard they can be a salty mess cleaning (my 65 is in a bedroom on carpet so I try to limit water).
