Deep sea mushrooms....

My daughter and I went beach combing today to see what we could find after the hurricane. We love finding new things. One of our discoveries was these sea mushrooms. Never seen them before. Lots were washed up on the beach but a few were still alive in the water. They are a beautiful pink/purple color. I’m sure there are numerous kinds, here is an article on some of them:

Something else we found was these Shellback crabs. They have special legs on their backs so they can hold onto a shell. We found most of them still inside their shells.

I don't think what you have there are deep sea mushrooms. I think those are sea pansies and they are not uncommon along the SE US coastline. Check out this site:

I'm not sure if they will survive in an aquarium or not, I've never found one in the Florida Keys or along the shore of the Gulf of Mexico. And we do find lots of other creatures on the beach after storms. Some of it is in this thread (see post #6 and there are some others there as well):
