Are designer fish popular or frowned upon in this hobby? Seems like I see folks that don’t really get tickled by them (are they taboo) What’s your opinion let’s hear it

I like the designer clowns. Storms and frostbites are probably my favorites.

By designer, I'm assuming that to mean captive bred selectively to retain or weed out certain color morphs or characteristics.

I'm all for it, so long as the breeder maintains proper animal husbandry and care of the animals.

Less fish snagged out of the ocean, the better imo.

The clowns are just (mostly) selectively bred for color. There really isn't much wrong with that.

There are some abominations out there, like parrot cichlids. That's a little different.

The coolest version of a Clown Fish is the original ocellaris clownfish, Best combination of colors. Most of the other ones look like they have vitiligo or some kind problem that makes their skin lose its pigment cells. I always like the classics.

Very interesting and valid perspective. I witnessed how my Rottweiler suffered in her later years. Of course her hind-quarter was decimated with disease. Towards the end, it was heartbreaking to watch her mind leave us.

As a big fan of clownfish, I love all the designer types we see today. As long as a healthy stock of originals are maintained in the oceans, I'm completely fine with tinkering the DNA of tank raised. I would be a happy camper with only a pair of every designer Clownfish in my tank
