Detergent smell?

My washer and dryer next room over my basement, when i came down stairs i can smell the detergent smells fills the room, does that affect the tank in anyway?

it could in theory be vapors in the air that may enter the water via gas exchange, but I'd expect the effect to be minimal if any, and running activated carbon would likely prevent any harm.
