Diagnosing microbubbles with a hob1.5 aquamaxx

Titles pretty clear, I got it 2nd hand, last guy said he didn’t have that much , I did clean it so I expect some but the amount is crazy. Do I haave something wrong. Is the pump itself supposed to generate bubbles, because I don’t have the diffuser on and still making tons of bubbles straight out of the pump when hooked to silencer. It’s driving me nuts. I’ve checked to ensure all connections above water were tight. Is the silencer supposed to have water in it, or is it supposed to be dry

Slap the bubble plate on, it will push the bubbles up higher in that chamber. You will still end up with some micro bubbles though. The pump is what generates the bubbles, not the plate. I run the same skimmer and it works well.

Do you also have the divider out? Hard to tell from the video but there should be a sheet between the 2 chambers

No, the bubble plate is upside down in @Mr. Mojo Rising 's picture. Here's the aquamaxx brand one:

I have the in sump WS-1 version and the cones point outward on that too.

So this is what I get with it all put together properly. It is way too many bubbles. Are you running the bubble stopper?

Is the divider in as well? Yes, I'm running the bubble stopper but i dont recall mine being that crazy.

Just set mine up and thought this might help the convo (I realize it been2 months but also checking in on how it’s going).
