I just want to post this for people who run HOB Skimmers. Mine is a new Eshopps , but this may apply to others as well. I could not get the skimmer to create foam and start the air bubbles I checked and di the obvious . Made sure the air line was not plugged and against my own rule started to play with the flow adjustment. It would behave for a short time then revert to just sitting there. I finally took it off , and took it apart. There was nothing glaringly obvious but some algae growth covering a few holes in the body. I removed the pump as well. It seemed that the holes in the impeller had build up , and on the back of the impeller a light covering of algae. I cleaned it all up , no chemicals and put it back together. I had little faith in it working properly resigning myself to probably changing the entire motor assembly since I had one trying to fix my older model . Which by the way you can forget that because the connections on the new model don't line up. So back to an old post about manufacturers not improving their products. Be careful what you wish for. Anyway just from cleaning it up which was not big task or it not being really dirty it is now running perfect . You have to wait because of the water flow adjustments I did caused it to over flow after about 15 minutes. Luckily I had a large container underneath

Great news and good information! Most people never think to check the pump.
