Great thanks, one more question shoudl i run all the things that come with the fluval HOB, (BIOmax & carbon)?

Don’t use carbon, it removes many medications. The biomax is safe.

Ok thanks again for all the advice,

one final thing how should i acclimate all the fish that are already in my DT to QT
should i use freshly made water or tank water?

It depends on your set up; how much water you can make in a given amount of time.

1) If you can make up new water equal to the volume of the QT at one time, you could fill the QT with DT water, then move the fish over with no acclimation and top the DT up with the new water you just made.

2) If you can’t make enough water at one time equal to the volume of the QT, then just fill the QT with new water over a few days. Then, ensure the water in the QT is exactly the same salinity and temperature as the DT and then move the fish over.

I like option one because by using “old” water to fill the QT, your DT gets the benefit of a big new batch of water.

Ok thank you all, can i just run one qt tank i dont really have the space for multiple, and just treat it with copper?

That would be the best scenario - as long as the QT has a good biofilter. The fish are going to need to be in the QT for 60 days - 30 days of copper followed by another 30 days to ensure the ich has died out in your DT.
I just found out i’m going to be out of town from december 20-27 if i put the e fish in qt tank from now until then will that give me enough time to leave the tank fallow?

That’s cutting it a bit close.

If the invertebrates can tolerate it, raising the temperature to 81 will shorten then fallow period, as short as 45 days.

inverts

blood shrimp
trochus snails
tuxedo urchin
nessarius snails
red tip hermit

Those can all handle 81 f.

Corals are the biggest issue with warmer temps……

all lps with a bubble tip, should i slowly ramp it up over a few days?

Ah, I wondered about that: corals ARE invertebrates, I wouldn’t try raising the temp higher than 79 degrees and then just go with the 60 day time frame.
