I have a diamond goby in my 75 gallon and he has not eaten for 3 days. He always hides in his burrow ever since he stopped eating, but I managed to catch him outside of it today. It also seems weird since the goby would run away from other fish like my snowflake eel, but when the eel was next to it yesterday, he just stood there. Can someone please help me with this problem.

That fish can easily clean newer sand beds and then, will starve over time.

How long has he been happy, before this?

His mouth kind of looks like a suction cup now, sorry for the blurry picture. He also hides whenever he sees me.

I can’t see much but if you see a mouth deformation that of course may rule out starving after 8 months.

In three days I might lean towards a disagreement with another, and a mouth bite. A clown might try that if the DB gets to close to their spot.

The snowflake maybe if he’s big enough. Whatever fits in their mouth is subject to being dinner. Or maybe he tried but was too big.

Is someone else in there that makes that a potential?

He shouldn’t be running scared now if not a typical behaviour, again, is the someone that my be a bully?

You can a a rock (or anything) to add new real estate in case of a territory dispute, on occasion, that can help lower stress.

The only potential threat is the eel, but he doesn’t bother anybody. Most he will do is just get close to them. However I did see him try to eat today when I put brine shrimp in front of him, but not much. He is also outside of his burrow fully buried beneath the sand (you can only see his eyes). Is this normal behavior?

My fish store which I got him from said it might be because of old age, but I only got him less than a year ago. He doesn’t even look like his max size i think.

Can’t distinguish anything in the pic.
If he’s not sifting, that’s of course a problem.
Life span is 3-5 years, 8ish in great conditions.

He acts if he’s hiding from someone.

How big is the eel?
They have a potential.

Not normal, he would be moving around and “sifting”

Is he doing that?

The eel is about a foot long but hasn’t touched anybody, in fact I would say he’s scared of most of the other fish. He will sift a little bit whenever I try to feed him, but he will only eat a little bit. He is still hiding a lot whenever I come to the tank. This was not normal behavior since last week.

Could’ve been on the older side when you got him but as far as him not eating maybe try a variety of foods? I hope he makes it
