Dreaded diatoms have started now the lights been on a few weeks is it worth running anything to remove it or just let it burn out?

Let it burn out, just make sure nutrient levels aren't too high

Sorry, I don't see nuisance algae, whatever the species, as dreaded. They're all inevitable and manual removal and herbivores are all I'll use to control them until the ecosystem balances out. Get an urchin or two and use steel straws to siphon out the worst of it.

Diatoms will go away over time! I would get CUC in your tank if you don't have any
