Did Photobucket Loose A Lawsuit?

I use to be a Photobucket person to host my pictures. They suddenly, without warning, stopped hosting unless you paid major bucks, and all your current photos now looked like this:



This didn't happen on R2R because they somehow captured all your photos on their server (I think, said the person who knows nothing about IT). I stopped using Photobucket, and on another site's forum that had my pictures, all the hundreds of photos I had posted looked like the above. I was just on that other forum site, and now all my photos are back! Did Photobucket loose a lawsuit? Or did something else happen that I'm not aware of?

I hope that's the case. I was disappointed when I noticed the same thing. On another forum I belong to they somehow "scrubbed" all images that were linked to PB and I'm sure that's why. It just looks horrible on a thread stocked full of helpful images to come back and see that placeholder instead.

Thanks for the info Ed.....good to know. I have over ten years of photos on that other site, and there original decision made all those posts useless.....they are now restored. I'm glad I didn't delete my account with them, like so many others have done.

Mostly agree. The decision to hold hostage everyone's photos was just a brutal business decision. From what I understand about 6-8 weeks ago they have new management and went back to the old way, but I have also moved on to elsewhere. I also heard they are quite small, only like 15 people that work there.

The adds were insane though and made the site so slow.
I started using Flickr too but is is not as easy to use as Photobucket for me.

i also have like 20 years of picks up there.

Google photos is pretty cool.

You can go with free and Smaller file size but still usable.
Or you can pay $2 a month for 1Gb , or if you have too many pictures like I do you can pay $10 a month for 1 Terabyte.

Hardly free, but Google shouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon.
I just think of it as 2 corals a year.

It searches out all your photos on all of your gear and uploads them by Wi-Fi automatically. Just log in to your Google account on every laptop and phone you own and they will all be in the same place pretty effortlessly.
I added my account to better half's phone and grabbed all the pictures there as well.
It also searches out different files as you use your phone and Asks you if you want to upload those as well.

Not crazy about the "not free" part but it does everything I need it to do.

I backed up all of my photos that I had stored on PB, I left some folders there that have images linked to other threads. I no longer upload to PB anymore and rarely post anywhere else since I can now post my images to Reef2Reef with my phone.

Imgur is another option. Works well for me, but I'm never going to exceed anyone's storage limits so I never know what they actually are.
