What types of algea are you seeing? It is mostly on the rock work, sand bed, glass?
Its starting to move all over.. sand, glass and rocks. Snail has hair on its back :D
I have to clean the glass every other day to keep it clear. Thinking its all just part of the growing process since we did not use live rock. Oh and its green when I turn off the blues...

Hi, You say in this thread that you have a bean animal in your Eshopps Eclipse L overflow. I am trying to do that now but the area inside the overflow doesn't allow me to fit 2 90-degree pipe turns without covering the next hole. How did you work out the space for a bean animal? Can you take a picture of yours?
hello @silverhalide I had to use street elbows to make it fit. You can find them at the big barn hardware store..

Pics are a little hard to get since its against the wall and I did not know how bad the box needed cleaning  but this should help you out.

Yay ugly phase haha. Id reccomend physical removal of everything you can get. 5 micron socks would help tons. Vacuum out filter into to sump. Remove sand from filter sock, clean put back in. Just make sure your keeping nutrients in check through everything. You want detectable and def don't want to let them bottom out.
The UV will help with filter sock water as well. Just stay on top and keep things tight while it gets broken in for you.

Thx @LRT I need to test the nutrients again since its a new system it stays on the low side. I have addatives to keep it up if just feeding doesn't do the job. The sump is a roller, no socks and I do need to clean it out again as well.

10 4. I dont run socks either. I just use the 5 micron to siphon through when I'm cleaning up sand bed or deep cleans. It may be beneficial for you while your breaking tank in. You def want nutrients to balance in water column and not strip them out if that makes sense. That why I use the sock for that instead of full blown water changes.

I see my wife is updating as well from Houston :p
Algae is shown in pic above :rolleyes:
So the uglies are the uglies unfortunately.

As @LRT mentioned, physical removal is an option.

I take another route. I prefer to tailor my cuc, to what I want gone. You have a nice bit of open sand bed there. Conches IMO are worth their weight in gold. As far as the glass and rock work, assorted snails will help. Mexican turbos are chompers of GHA and work fast. Just make sure to have everything glued down. They are a bit bull in the China cabinet-ish.

Physical removal of what you can see will help your cuc keep up with removing algae at surface level before it appears. I love my cuc but they never really could keep up with the gha and don't seem to like it when it gets out of control. My conch and turbos likes moving my racks around for me every morning haha

If you have CA glue stuck to the Monte well enough, I would switch over to reef safe epoxy. Work the epoxy into a putty and push it all up in the rock you want to attach it to then work it into and around the CA glue "base" for the Monte.

I had to do the same thing with my stunner.

Spent Sunday removing green algae from the tanks. Was like a carpet in the cube ;Yuck
Changed out the fleece roller in the 120 sump and cleaned the skimmer (hate that last one)
Spent some time dosing the mixing water to our params and was getting ready to do some water changes but we came across a local reefer selling some frags. Decided we wanted a few and ran to his house.
Picked up another Duncan, A shroom (@LRT will be proud I think  cept I dont know the name), a digitata sps, a Jack-O-Lantern Leptoseris, and something else I dont know the name of :p

Anyone help identify would be great!!
The duncan keep moving so didn't get good picks of him yet but hes 3 heads and happy. Issues getting good pick of the JackOLantern as well. updates later.

All the below for $50 was a great deal I thought!

All dipped and in the frag qt... Working on a new frag rack so will be moving stuff around. Shroom is already trying to leave the plug I think

Very nice. Mushroom looks like something from tonga perhaps. I don't really do designer names. Digitata looks like could be forest fire.
