I totally disagree, this is a tryed and true method of treatment and it works, that is why I brought it here to R2R. I may not be able to tell you on a molecular level of what is does to the cell ( don't have a microscope) but I and others have used this process with 100% success. Also I have never had any coral loss with this. Let's not discredit something that works bud. With that being said, I also believe in what you are doing here too as I'd said from the beginning when we first started talking about this on my thread. Remember there is always more than one way to skin a cat, lol
Not discrediting I just take it to a cellular level :)
As noted in the start I accept all critical thinking process
A bacteria to fight a protozoan down to the absolute last cell makes me think ;)

I've been dosing H2O2 and might be getting some results, but it can also be that I cut back on my wc's that might have helped. This might be the knockout punch.

H202 works for some, I was dosing the 3% up to 5ml/10gallons with no results. A 3 day blackout was the only thing that cleared up my tank for about 1.5 weeks but they always came back

Your sample came in!
I am letting it settle and will have it under the scope soon.
That is the thing about this 3 day blackout.
All they do is become free in the water column and eventually will congregate back together.

Twillard,

Question what is everyone using for this Dino issue?

Secondly what is the scope you have and is it compatible with a camera?

Another treatment question - looking for a few more details to eradicate these pests.
It seems that the recommended approach is to
> dose metronidazole daily (0.125mg/10gal/day) for 3 consecutive days <
How and when should the sand be stirred and rockwork be blasted (with a turkey baster)?
Should the dino mat be vacuumed instead of stirring sand? If so, when and how often?
Thanks!

I would not disturb them for the 3 days of dosing.
After the 4th day lightly blow them into the water column to be caught by mechanical filtration.
I had to do this daily as after dosing they seem to loose their ability to bond.

As far as I can tell neither are effected as of yet surprisingly I was anticipating this question I have been dosing the two on alternating schedules 8am and 8am for H2O2
And noon for metronidazole.

This would be a good double punch!

my dose is small enough (2ml an hour) where i doubt it would affect it, but it is still an oxidizer.

glad im not the only one who thought of this.
