Discosoma mushroom: do they need to be on an island because they multiply so fast?

Hi, I’m curious. I’ve not read much about discosoma, but naturally a lot of the material is oriented two wards sale. Do these mushrooms have sweepers or emit toxins? Or how do they kill anything around them?
