I have an island composed of a Discosoma Mushroom and GSP. Currently they are separated but I am concerned one will take over the other given time. Has anyone ever experienced this, if so, can you give perspective? I would like for both to live here and grow until space is used up.

Also I have attached my nano 10 gallon tank, any thoughts?

My vote is for discoma. I've had green striped mushrooms for my entire reefing career. I thought I lost them in 2003...nope. I added red mushrooms to my tank maybe 10 years ago and they successfully pushed the greens around. I have green mushrooms everywhere, they just pop off and find a place to settle.

I had a disk of GSP a few years ago that tried to get established next to some shrooms, shrooms covered them.

GSP will win out.

I have a nano tank that is currently overrun with aiptasia. I've tried many things to eradicate it - F Aiptasia, Aiptasia X, lemon juice, boiling water, berghia nudibranchs. None of it has made a dent in the aiptasia population.

A few months back, I got a free frag of GSP from a live sale. I dropped it in the nano.

It's started growing onto part of the rockwork and is outcompeting and smothering the aiptasia there. If it can outdo aiptasia, it'll do the same with mushroom corals.

GSP beats everything except BTAs and dinos.
