Hi All,
We are qt’ing 4 neon gobies. They’ve been behaving and eating fine for a week, but today we noticed these whitish scaling looking things on them. We think ich but would like a second (and maybe third and fourth opinion). We have 4 in a 10 gallon and they do skirmish off a bit, so another possibly is just physical damage from fighting... let me know what you think!
Thanks,

Have you done any treatment of any sort yet?

I would recommend a 5min FW dip first. You may have a heavy fluke infestation going on there.

Gobies are generally very ich resistant. Ich is possible just less likely than some of the other diseases.

Hi There,

The Fish are at my Place so I got a couple more Photos after Transfering all 4 into a Fresh New QT ( I did start PraziPro Treatment ) .

All the Fish are very Active/Alert, and Hunry/Eatting. (Yesterday they were Sparkling Clean...It all started in a Flash today. All 4 at once)

When I am looking thru camera in Zoomed IN Live, it appears the White that is seen on the Goby is a Film Mucus that drifts with Flow of water.

I'm no expert in any way, but is this possibly some kind of Fungal Infection?

(I can strip off the Prazipro with Carbon, and maybe Treat with Seachem Kanaplex).
I have almost every med available.

I also have a Fresh Water Dip Station Ready.

Just for Reference, this was one of the Fish a Week ago when Healthy.

Bits flying off sounds like brook, which will need metronidazole.

You need to dip first to confirm or rule out flukes. This is the absolute most important step, and until you do this we can't be sure of anything.

Treating for something without confirming the illness = bad. Confirm or rule out flukes with a FW dip.

Make sure the dip is aerated with a bubbler, up to temperature, and if possible match the pH.

Fresh water Dip Done.

Each fish was dipped Exactly 5 minutes, and they swam around in Fresh Water like nothing different.

Fresh Water dip was done in a Dark Bucket (Kept everything) to check later for any dislodged Flukes.

Fish are back in QT and settling in.

Will get new Close-up Photos (a bit later) to see how fish look after dip.

Is there a good site of reference pics for flukes / ich?

Just to clarify the photo's above (Possibility of what was in Bucket)

When doing DIP, with a bright flashlight shining into the Dark Bucket. I did NOT see anything float off fish.
The Neon Gobies are tiny, so hard to tell in general.

As far as content in the bucked......
When I filled up the QT from Dt, some Live Sand came across with a Live Rock Piece so anything could have made it's way to QT.
And to make things worse, when trying to catch the Last Super Fast Goby, I accidentally scooped up some of the Live Sand.
That sand got into the Dark Bucket.

I will continue to watch the fish. They are in Prazi. And TTM will continue just in case it's ICH.

Here is one Photo after DIP ( LOOKING GOOD !! ))

You still can see the Mucus on Fringes but his skin is doing much better. (NOT OUT OF THE WOODS YET, Other fish are not as good, but better).

Could still be ICH that has Left this guy. Will continue TTM.

Hope they make it, since Strangely After DIP and new QT Setup, they have Perfect PAIR off (2 and 2) in two homes.

Quite affectionate toward each other (contrary to all the fighting before), but this time TWO Separate HOMES may have helped.

Doesn't look like ich to me, any skin/mucus coming off sound very much like brook though.

I'd discontinue PraziPro and probably start metronidazole / Metroplex.

Just to be clear. There is "NO" SKIN or MUCUS coming off (floating off).

What I am trying to say is there is a clear film in certain areas on the skim, plus the skin marks that you see in photos.

I am leaving the PRAZIpro overnight (since it won't do any harm).

Certainly not starting any new MEDS right now. They have improved, and are active/eating.

Give them a 12-24 Hour break after Dip and one TTM (done today).

Let' see what they look like tomorrow.

However if needed here are the TREATMENTS I have available:

-> API (General Cure)
-> API (Furan-2)
-> Seachem (MetroPlex)
-> Seachem (KanaPlex)
-> Seachem (ParaGuard)
-> API (MexlaFix)

I don’t about brook; fish have had this for three days now and they seem fine.
What about lymphocystis ? I am hoping that the disease experts will chime in with their diagnosis . Symptoms in brief - whitish Flakes dots on fish body; fish are eating and other wise healthy ; no obvious signs of flukes or parasites falling off after fw dip, but dip appeared to have improved the appearance of the white flakes / spots

Okay that makes sense wally. And tunerpro I've had lympho and it looks different. It could be the beginning stages as I've never seen it be clear before.

@Humblefish any idea here?
