Hi all, I have a Fluval flex that is terrible at filtration. I was thinking about removing the current filtration and creating a new one. I do not want to drill tank and use a sump. Do you think this design will work? Thoughts appreciated.

the lower baffle between return pump and skimmer section should be higher:
1. it determines the minimum water height of the skimmer section.
2. if it is too low relative to the heater/skimmer baffle, you will get a waterfall/splashes.
3. the return pump section is where you want the water level to drop due to evaporation. You don't want the return pump and skimmer section to have the same water level, or else your skimmer's water level will fluctuate. You want the skimmer water level to always be constant.

The ato would be in the return section. I also will have a sensor in case the ato failed it would shut off the return pump. If I choose not to use a skimmer could I then remove the divider to the left?
