This is what I bought based on one of thread on r2r and lost the recipe, do you or anyone has correct recipe for this acid?
Sodium Hydroxide is not an acid.

For an Alkalinity titration you need a strong acid, such as Hydrochloric Acid or Sulphuric acid (amongst other possibilities)

To clarify-

i measured 1,000ml 10.0N HCl using a 500ml volumetric flask and combined it with 9,000ml RODI for 10.0L 1.0N acid

then take 1,000ml of 1.0N and combine with 9,000ml rodi for 10.0L of “0.1N”

1L muriatic and 99L rodi would also work but then you’re having to store decades worth of reagent
thank you for sharing the recipe, what is the best place to buy

Hydrochloric Acid, 10.0 N

Ace sells muriatic acid. I just bought some. You may need to look at their web sites to see exactly what concentration is sold at your local stores.

Not sure where that number came from, but it’s about 0.019 N.

Correct. Ready to be used in the Alkatronic.
Hello gm all, I followed the same recipe 1.9 ml of ~31.45% muriatic acid per L of RO water, which will give us 0.02N that is ready to use solution, I made this solution and calibrated Pump C of my alkatronic and am running test every 1 hr and I am getting reading of 11.1, what am I doing wrong?

I'd suggest that the acid you started with was weaker than 31%.

If you expect a recipe to work without adjustment you need to use a known strength acid to start with.

I use reagent grade 1.0N acid.

what would be the correct mixing ratio for 31.45%, muriatic acid? thank you,

I don’t follow what each machine needs, but I can do the calculations for a specific value. I’ll do it for 0.1 N HCl, but I do not guarantee that is what the machine expects.

I’ll note however, that the number 31.45 has a lot off significant figures to it that tells me it’s likely an estimate, not a fixed concentration.

31.45% HCl is about 9.97 M. I’d round that to 10 M. To get to 0.1 N, mix 99 parts by volume ro/di with I part acid by volume.

Thank you Randy, I will give it a try, if not I will buy the 0.1N solution gallon
