Im looking to start a project but want to check the viability before I full send it.

I have some 5mm glass laying around and want to build an overflow box for my aquarium with it.
It will be 4 panels (3 sides 1 bottom)
And the 4th panel of the box would be the main display itself. The 4 panels would be siliconed directly to the aquarium.

My 2 big questions are
1 would the box properly adhere to the aquarium. Its going to be sort of small.

2 would a bulkhead break the 5mm glass

Im not too concerned about the actual utube siphon. I've done these in the past and was really happy with the results.

Looks like a hob overflow with a U tube. I can't help but think it might be easier and safer to just buy a hob overflow but I've never worked with glass outside of adding baffles to a diy sump.
I ran eshopps hob overflows on a 150g and 180g plumbed to a shared basement sump for several years.

Im either going to do a hob style overflow using this glass or I'll make a full box and use a bulkhead.
Also I lied its 5.5mm glass
