Anyone get any felt recently that has been safe? I'm not sure which ones may have additives

been making 4” diy socks for 6 years. Started with sock needing replacement once a week but now it’s down to every 4 days so I made a larger sock using 24”x12” felt fabric. This should last 8-10 days before changing.

Perhaps you are using a coarse mesh fabric or water flows at a slower rate to be replacing 4 inch filter sock every 4 weeks ? Is your sock longer? My sump is not deep so sock is only 12” long. I’m pretty sure the felt fabric I use is no higher than 100 micron, and possibly finer and I have been using the same or equivalent fabric since 6 years ago.

Anyone get material recently from JoAnn? Is there a specific brand that has been reef safe?
Hey looking todo this myself and seems like JoAnn still sells the same felt, I'll go and check it out soon and make sure its exactly the same with eco-fi. But based on the description seems like the exact same from however many years ago, heres a link. Let me know if you are using something different though, I'm interested! Also is there a specific type of safe thread I should use?

Will these work on a sump that doesn’t dump directly into the sock? As in the water comes into a separate chamber and flows up and over then down into the socks? I’m worried the water will go around and under the ring.

Good find but I have tried all different ways to search Joann's Fabric and am unable to locate your filter sock material. Can you tell me just what numbers you are searching to locate this materiel. Years ago I purchase this exact fabric but have never been able to find again. I'm currently going to try Pellon TP971F Fusible Thermolam Plus Fleece 45'' but am not 100% sure it will work. Any comment from the gallery would be nice.

I found some squares of the ClassicFelt ecofil but they seem to plug up rather quickly. :( So what is everyone using in place instead of the original felt? I have tried Pellon 988 with some success, TP970 is to dense and plugs up rather quickly. Pellon 990 seems porous but also seems a little bit thick but again plugs up within 2 days. So please chime in your thoughts
