diy iron and manganese supplement

Is there a good way to dose iron and manganese? Since the commercial iron and manganese supplements don't state how much is actually in them, I'd like to make a diy one. We test our water twice a month and found that our gonioporas do much better if our iron and manganese levels are...

I also recently found good bulk manganese gluconate that I might use in future recipes.

BulkSupplements.com Manganese Gluconate Powder

I’m curious as to the potency/mixing calculations on this one as well. I accidentally ordered some that I had placed in my cart with my normal order

That product is 25% manganese by weight.

Dissolve 1 gram of the solid material in 1 L of RO/DI. That solution contains 250 mg of manganese, so the concentration is 250 mg/L or 250 ug/mL.

Adding 1 mL to 250 L of tank water will boost aquarium manganese levels by 250 ug per 250 L or 1 ug/L.
@Randy Holmes-Farley would the above be the correct information for the bulk supplements powder? I don’t know if it’s anhydrous or ? I’m chemically inept and not very good at finding this sort of detail any longer.

Manganese gluconate is 12.4% manganese by weight.

Dissolve 1 gram of the solid material in 1 L of RO/DI. That solution contains 124 mg of manganese, so the concentration is 124 mg/L or 124 ug/mL.

Adding 1 mL to 100 L of tank water will boost aquarium manganese levels by 124 ug per 100 L or 1.24 ug/L.

Lol

I think you can mix it with ferrous gluconate. If you do and anything visible happens, let me know.

I’m not sure how anyone would assess bioavailability, but there are a number of manganese diy that will work well.

Thanks Randy, I am currently dosing 0.5ug/L of maganese through the RM Moonshiners supplement. Do you see any potential issues of switching to Mn Gluconate dosed a ~1ug/L daily?
