DIY nano cleaning hack

I have been trying to come up with a way to better clean my nanos as a large hand man sometime it can be quite challenging. So I took a regular pen cut it up and stuck it in a 1/4 tube to slow the siphoning in my nano. This worked like a charm. I’ve had some bubble algae that was impossible for me to reach it’s all gone now with ease. Just wanted to share as this is going to be a tremendous asset to me moving forward in how I care for my tank.

That's brilliant. How does this hack do at getting growth off of sand bed? For whatever reason, I only get green algae in one area of the sand and I just turn it over rather than try to extract it for a lack of a good way.

Usually a low flow issue, you could try to add a cheap jebao wavemaker to get some extra flow to the area.

Great idea! I will try this for some xenia that i cant get off the rocks (pukani rock has so many crevices)

Thank you. I ran with no power heads for a few weeks and -- now that you mention flow -- that's how long green algae has been growing in that spot. I just added a new power head and I know there's flow there now because my shrimp molt keeps "walking around" on its own right through that area. Spooooooky. :)
