WAs wondering , i have a spare aio tank lying around. Can i plump it into my system so that i can use it is a cheato reactor ? it has led lights on , wavemaker everything. The plumming is gonna be like follows : Return from DT to sump , sump to uv , uv to cheato tank , cheato tank backto sump , sump back to main display.

Have to add i have a small pathces of gha on back and thats it , nothing major, i have seachem matrix in a media container in sump, then s smal reactor runnuning phosgaurd with carbon. ANd a curve 5 skimmer . All this in a 20 gallon system.

I can leave refiguim and put matrix in the reactor with the phosgaurd and carbon aswell. The reason i'm doing all this is cuase my acans wont open.
And btw im dosing nopox aswell. Dont have test kits for no3 . But alk , ph is spot on. Po4 isbetween 0 - 0.2 on and off. Feed quater block for my 3 fishes and shrimp and snails etc.

Obviously adding that tank will give me more volume aswell which will be better i pressume aswell.

Any input would be loved and appreciated .

If just saying you want to add an AIO onto an existing system, I see no reason why you can’t. Do you plan to run the AIO with a pump in the last chamber? Only problem I can see is off you don’t use the back chambers, you’ll have water leak in through the weirs and perhaps come across stagnant water.

There’s nothing wrong with this at all. And sounds like a good idea. I guess plumbing would be a nightmare and that would be my number one concern.

Only worry is if n pump decides to die. Otherwise it should be fine. Nothing a really have to add or anything , just the return pipe from the aio tank is gonna be the problem i think

I’d keep filter floss in one chamber to prevent any macro from making its way through to the pump. I’d even take an extra precaution to cover the top of the back chambers to block any light from growing unwanted algae and anything that sneaks through. You don’t want to clog the return chamber pump.

I did this with a ten gallon glass tank. I had the tank in the stand sitting higher then the sump. Cut a hole in the glass tank and pumped water from the sump into it. I did a small build thread on it. It was very easy and worked great
