diy skimmer

does anyone know how to build a diy skimmer i have 20 long with built in overflow. i have mostly sps and lps.

I built a 7' (yes, seven feet) by 4" cast acrylic skimmer in the 80s. Unless you like buiding things I think it pays to buy one. But if you want to know, just PM me with your contact info. It's not a venturi type but it wored great. I actually just bought a Reef Dynamics skimmer yesterday for my 55g. Maybe others have some better ideas.

here are a couple I built.. nothing too fancy but they get the job done..

my first one

then I built a cone

this was my 3rd one. with a tunze pump

then I built 2 . one with a custome sicce pump moounted internal
and the second with a bubble blaster 2000 mounted external

and test run

So with taht being said. Do you have a mill or lathe to make any parts ?

Check out Beananimals website. From what I remember he had a sick DIY skimmer with full specs etc.
