can't find a descent price tank stand that looks good. been doing my research and decided to build my own. not sure if this will hold a 10 gallon tank. but I might have to do some modifications. It won't hold a 20 g for sure. but looking for opinion.

The section of forum that you're posting in has tons of threads detailing stand designs and methods for building them. Be sure to check them out, they include a lot of useful information.

Well a 10 gallon isn't too much weight but all of the load in that example would be on the screws

that will hold 10 gallons, really almost anything will to be honest but as said everything is on the screws and there are plenty of much better designs posted on the forum

Don't even worry about it, that stand would hold way more than you need. Even if we assume only 4 screws are used, that's a couple hundred pounds of shear strength that the screws can support on their own.
