Do clams get worms?

Wondering what this could be coming out of the inhalent siphon? The clam is new yesterday and had not been doing well.

That would be the clams byssal organ, which it uses to attach to rocks, etc. It's not super uncommon for clams to do this and IMO, is no cause for concern
