frags tend to cost a lot; it only makes sense to invest in a nice frag rack to protect your investment. I got a pretty nice one from zen with really strong magnets you just put on the glass. My MP40's aren't blowing it off

Ah... now I see what you were trying to do. Those frag racks are way too big. Try cutting a smaller piece out. Jam it between 2 rocks or something. Or make the racks smaller and bury the legs in to the sand. The eggcrate has an almost neutral and slightly negative buoyancy and but the large surface area of the racks will get pushed around by the flow.

When I started in the hobby on the coral side I thought “Oh, some of those precisely shaped slate stones would look great overgrown with zoas” so I got a box that wouldn’t leach according to the box, which I’ve since figured out is a bold statement for a company to make. Fast forward about four months and despite being a fishless coral tank I was constantly battling diatoms. Sent a test out and came back with extreme amounts of silicates. Removed the stones and over the next few months I watched those levels come back down to normal. I will just say that that’s a mistake I am glad that I made earlier in than later on. Is probably best to avoid that sort of thing at all costs.

I started with this. made a capital I shape with the egg crate first for the legs and then zip tied the top rack to those. It still will want to float a bit but once you get the frags and plugs on it should hold it down.

We ended up just putting them in the tank after cutting the posts off.. Gonna hope for the best while keeping a close watch.
I do have another question about lighting.. What schedule would you guys and gals run with my tank getting partial sunlight 5-6 hours a day?
