This may sound like a stupid question but do I have to directly feed CUC or will they just eat whatever that's leftover when I broadcast feed

If you're tank is new and no fish or algae. Then I would say yes
But if you're tank has fish and your feeding them the cuc will get bits . A lot of people introduce cuc before anything else but they die off because of starvation due to lack of algae . This more your turbo snails ect . Hermits will eat flake and bits of left overs . Hope this helps

It depends on how "dirty" the tank is. If there's plenty of algae, detritus and excess food, they'll be fine. If the tank is too new or sterile and other livestock take up the majority of food at feeding time, you'll need to take extra steps to make sure the CUC are fed.

If you want your CUC to be healthy and grow to old age, yes, feed them. There is no method available to determine if there is enough residual food to sustain your CUC.

Used to feed my nassarius and wish I had fed my algae crew when cyano and and dinos and GHA took over. Either the dino or cyano killed them or they starved to death because turf algae they preferred overtaken by the other three.

They need to eat.... ideally there should be enough food in your tank that you should never need to feed, but if you overstocked on cuc, then you need to feed
