So whenever i feed i break off some frozen mysis shrimp and thaw it out in a shot glass with tank water and usually broadcast the full shot glass across the tank, i've heard that it could possibly be beneficial to strain the shrimp from the water they were thawed in before feeding, so curious if that's something everyone does or if it's really just preference?

I also heard it's better to strain the shrimp, but there's no way I'm doing that.

I have a feeding cup in my tank and I just throw in the frozen cubes and let them slowly release in the tank. Some cubes defrost fast and broadcast the food more. I find some defrost slowly and feeds the tank slower which allows more of it to be eaten and not wasted.

Straining the shrimp is the preferred way because it removes most of the oils etc.
those oils can affect water quality. However, I thaw all my frozen food and do NOT strain it and I’ve had zero issues.

If it turns my thawing cup “milky” I do. I have found different brands of frozen mysis thaw “cleaner” than others so I’ve generally been purchasing those.

I don’t know if it’s better but I thaw it in rodi water and then feed it
